Ubud Hanging Garden Resort Ubud Bali

Surrounded by ancient trees and gravity-defying terraced gardens, this unique haven nestles on a dramatic hillside overlooking the Ayung river gorge.

Perched adjacent to steep rice terraces looking out to a temple on the opposite hill, this breathtaking property's individual Villas are all constructed in contemporary Balinese style with thatched alang-alang roofs and private plunge pools.

A private funicular permits easy access to the Villas, the restaurants, bars, boutique and library. The vast elliptical infinity pool emphasizes the natural curves of the hillside, and the Spa, set close by the Ayung river, shares the beauty of the view and the sounds of nature where guests indulge in exotic treatments.

The garden, conceived by the landscape architect William Warren (author of Balinese Garden) together with John Pettigrew, is unique. Nature becomes a spectacle here, with exotic trees and essences of the tropics - cocoa, coffee, durian, rambutan, lychees, a variety of tropical bamboos, flame trees, bird of paradise flowers and orchids...

Facilities & Amenities

The villas are set high on wooden pillars with king-sized four-poster beds, indoor baths, outdoor showers and dramatic individual plunge pools with adjoining Bales.

There are:

  • 30 deluxe Pool Villas (approx 100 sqm)
  • 2 deluxe Suite Pool Villas (approx 160sqm)
  • 6 two-bedroom Family Pool Villas (approx 160m2) (including the room, deck, pool, bale and bathroom.)

Each of the Villas has an infinity pool, a traditional pavilion for relaxing called a balé , an open air shower, an interior bathroom with Pansea Orient-Express Hotels’ signature bath in terrazzo (hand moulded and polished with stone) and a huge bedroom with a four-poster bed and mosquito net.

The Villas are primarily finished in precious woods, with Merbau flooring inside, Benkirai outside, and wooden furniture with sculpted doors in the Balinese tradition. The mosquito net holder is styled in the form of a traditional Balinese bed, and on the deck a large Paras stone pot is decorated with papyrus.

Béduur Restaurant
The restaurant features the delights of both Balinese and French cuisine. It enjoys a dramatic view of the other side of the valley, a dense curtain of tropical vegetation surrounding a temple and looming over the Ayung river gorge.

Diatas Pohon Café The Café looks down over the gorges of the Ayung river, and its terrace appears to be poised on gigantic treetops, a remarkably restful ambience in which to enjoy the light and healthy cuisine served here with an appreciation of well-being.

The Ayung Spa, set close by the Ayung river, shares the beauty of the view and the sounds of nature – the rainforest, waterfalls and birdsong. Here, guests indulge in exotic treatments in three riverside Spa Villas. On the other side of the river is a sacred spring, where traditional Balinese ceremonies are organized by the villagers.

Clinging to the riverbank, where the rocks make the water sing, and consumed by tropical foliage kissed by morning mists, the Ayung Spa rekindles distant memories of Paradise Lost. Awaken your senses with the heady scents of flowers and spices, and abandon your body to the secular secrets of Balinese well-being.

In pure Balinese style, the Ayung Spa offers three luxurious pavilions dedicated to relaxation and well-being. Each pavilion comprises two large spaces: one with two massage beds and a Balinese sofa, the other with a dressing area and bathroom with a bath that, surrounded by water, looks out onto the river. The interior and exterior are intimately married to nature, thanks to the use of local materials and the manner in which the pavilions open out onto the omnipresent vegetation. The fa?ade, without walls, allows guests to enjoy the majesty of the views whilst retaining their privacy.

The pavilions are linked to each other by Japanese steps surrounded by water and climbing plants clinging to the neighbouring wall, promoting a sensation of fertility.

Treatments

The Ytsara treatments at the Ayung Spa invite you to plunge your body and mind into a kingdom of subtle perfumes, pure sensations and exclusive textures to find total serenity.

Whether you come to relax, to find succour in nature or to recuperate, we offer you an extensive choice of exotic treatments: massages, exfoliations, baths and wrappings, using indigenous ingredients that are unique to Bali.

Signature Treatments

Regenerate your body and mind with our Ayung Beautifying Ritual. A creamy blend of rice powder and coconut exfoliates and gently nourishes your skin, before you take a perfumed bath with Balinese flowers. Pure delight.
